Favourable Fringe Reviews for "About An Hour"

It's only two days into the Toronto Fringe Festival, and already reviews have popped up in print. Glancing through the write-ups for various shows, you quickly learn that although the Fringe is a friendly affair, sometimes the reviews are...well...not. Luckily for the cast of About An Hour, the response from audiences and critics have been very positive, including a review from NOW Magazine which has officially labelled the performance a "Critic's Pick".
"Impossibly funny and focused improvisers Jim Annan, Rob Baker, Jan Caruana and Alex Hatz begin with an audience member’s suggestion, then expertly interweave plots and characters to create a fresh new hour-long saga each night. They eagerly challenge and support each other with aplomb, and embellish the story with tidbits dug from the depths of the collective pop-culture subconscious." By Debbie Fein-Goldbach - NOW Magazine, 4 out of 5 stars.
"It's tempting to say that drunks and masturbation are overused improv subjects, but the cast of About An Hour wields the clichéd roommate jokes, vagina talk and boozehound sketches with such captivating hilarity you begin to wish it was about another half-hour longer." By Carl Hiehn - Eye Weekly, 4 out of 5 stars.
"It began with a woman in the audience shouting "olives" and became a show about redecorating a bathroom, shopping at Longo's and interracial marriage. And it was hysterically funny. Welcome to About an Hour, where one audience suggestion explodes into 60 minutes of side-splitting improvised comedy. The four performers are equally adept at verbal and silent comedy, subtle and broad physical humour. And they are willing to do anything for a laugh. The standout of the troupe is Jan Caruana, who must be the quickest wit on the Toronto stage today." By Mark Selby - Toronto Star, Highly Recommended
